Meet The Senior Staff of Instructors
Stephen Rollins
Main Instrument: Guitar
Other Instruments: Bass, Keyboards & Drums
Born Feb. 9, 1959
San Mateo, CA
Graduated from Musicians Institute
Hollywood, CA 1989
Author of 5 Instuctional Books on Guitar - Started Teaching in 1989.

Teaching Style:
For me, the key to learning the guitar is a thorough knowledge of the fingerboard. While the different styles of music are vast, the placement of notes, scales and chord shapes on the fingerboard remains the same. Once I get a student to understand and visualize the fingerboard, any music they desire to learn is at their fingertips.

As an Author:
Throughout my teaching career I searched for books to use with my students. I often found them to be confusing and tedious for the student, so I decided to put my teaching techniques into book form. I used simplicity and large diagrams in order to make the learning process as easy as is humanly possible. My books are entitled as the "Introduction To" series. Available title are:

An Introduction to Scales For The Guitarist
An Introduction to Modes For The Guitarist
An Introduction to Arpeggios For The Guitarist
An Introduction to Chord Construction For The Guitarist
Prices range from $12 to $20 and are available at ESoM,

Trisha Chavarria
Patricia, better known as Trisha, is a 4th generation San Diegan. Trisha has lived in the San Diego area for her whole life, some 61 years. At a young age she was exposed to music by her mother an accomplished pianist in her own right. Trisha was encouraged to take part in all forms of the arts and her mother emphasized how important music is in all aspects of life. Trisha was exposed to everything from singing and dancing to piano and guitar and started performing on stage at the age of four and has been performing ever since.

Trisha has an Associate of the Arts degree and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. While attending college, Trisha worked as an elementary school aide teaching children the arts and the value of music.Trisha has a special way of communicating that not only is music fun, but the contentment one feels while playing an instrument is long lasting.

She likes to convey to the children she teaches that music is an activity that can be enjoyed by oneself as well in a group.
The Encinitas School of Music provides the perfect opportunity for Trisha. She gets to be around music, which she loves, and she is able to teach children the arts at the same time.
Whether she’s teaching piano, guitar, ukulele, or voice , Trisha gives her all to the children she comes in contact with. When Trisha was asked what she enjoys the most about teaching the arts, she responded, “sharing and teaching music to children and adults knowing that it is something they will take with them on the journey of life – wherever that may be – music will be a part of their life and I’ll know I was a part of that journey.”

Ben Breidenthal
I began playing trumpet in the 5th grade and have been picking up new instruments ever since. During my time with San Dieguito Academy’s band, I received awards such as the Louis Armstrong Jazz award and the John Phillip Sousa Band award. My third year I played in a group that won the battle of the bands. Today I am learning digital audio production and am constantly expanding my musical knowledge and skills. I have an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts and I from UCSD a B.A. in Music: Interdisciplinary Computing & the Arts.

Currently, I teach trumpet, ukulele, guitar, and drums. I am excited to share my knowledge of music with anyone who wants to learn. Everyone comes from a different musical background and has a different way of learning, so I will work the lesson plan around the student so we can find a way to fit music into your life.
