* ESOM @ THE LEUCADART ART FESTIVAL*

Musicians ages 12 to 15 are invited to participate in Summer Jazz Band Camp ‘09, a unique program designed to teach music fundamentals in a big band format. Students who have played saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar and drums for at least two years can sign up for a two-week session: July 13-23 at Encinitas School of Music.  Each session goes Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the cost is $150.00.

Participants will meet and play with top musicians who will present clinics for each instrument. Students will learn the secrets of live performance by mastering solid musical technique.  Using jazz style, a truly American musical tradition, the program will include music from the big band era as well as contemporary jazz-rock sounds.  Students will be trained to work in an ensemble situation, learning to play as a group.  The ultimate goal for each session is to have fun making music!
